Metageist
Digital artist Lee Mason outsources his creativity to a digital shadow self that weaves polygons together by hand in VR, for display within immersive digital spaces. Themes of camouflage and mimicry run through all of Metageist’s artwork as he seeks to imagine exosuits for the AI animalia and sentient architecture of the near future. He is forever trying to reconcile his relationship with digital environments. By manifesting man eating portals and insidious insects of the open metaverse he believes he’s representing the ugly parts of nature that are essential to our survival but aren’t often seen in digital spaces. They’re harbingers of a world where digital entities rival their biological counterparts in complexity and wonder and potentially grow to dislike us.
