ROBNESSV2
ROBNESS IS A CRYPTOARTIST, DIGITAL ARTIST, AND PIONEER IN THE NFT SPACE. HE IS KNOWN FOR HIS UNIQUE AND INNOVATIVE WORK, AS WELL AS HIS OUTSPOKEN ADVOCACY FOR FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION AND DECENTRALIZATION IN THE CRYPTOART WORLD. ROBNESS WAS BORN IN 1983 AND GREW UP IN THE UNITED STATES. HE BEGAN CREATING DIGITAL ART IN THE EARLY 2000S, AND HE WAS ONE OF THE FIRST ARTISTS TO ADOPT THE COUNTERPARTY PROTOCOL TO CREATE AND SELL NFTS. IN 2015, HE CO-FOUNDED THE RAREPEPE TRADING GANG, WHICH IS CONSIDERED TO BE ONE OF THE FIRST CRYPTOART COMMUNITIES. ROBNESS'S WORK IS OFTEN CHARACTERIZED BY ITS USE OF HUMOR, IRONY, AND SUBVERSION. HE IS NOT AFRAID TO CHALLENGE THE STATUS QUO OR TO EXPLORE CONTROVERSIAL TOPICS. ONE OF HIS MOST FAMOUS PIECES IS "BRUTE TRASHCAN," A SIMPLE IMAGE OF A TRASH CAN THAT HE SOLD FOR $250,000 IN 2021. THE PIECE HAS BEEN PRAISED BY SOME FOR ITS SUBVERSIVE NATURE AND ITS COMMENTARY ON THE VALUE OF ART IN THE DIGITAL AGE. HIS MOST NOTABLE WORK "64 GALLON TOTER" GOT HIM REMOVED AND THE PIECE REMOVED FROM THE SUPERRARE PLATFORM. AFTER 2 YEARS OF COMMUNITY SUPPORT, THE #TRASHART GENRE WAS BORN WITH TENS OF THOUSANDS OF REMIXES OF HIS WORK SPANNING ACROSS THE WORLD. ROBNESS AND HIS WORK WERE BOTH REINSTATED THUS SOLIDIFYING THE NATIVE CRYPTOART GENRE. HE IS A PASSIONATE ADVOCATE FOR OPEN-SOURCE ARTISTRY AND A MOVE AWAY FROM TRADITIONAL COPYRIGHT LAW. HE ENCOURAGES OTHER ARTISTS TO REMIX AND REUSE HIS WORK, AND HE HAS EVEN RELEASED SOME OF HIS PIECES UNDER A CREATIVE COMMONS LICENSE.
